Del Storia (some history)
In 1881, Italy was introduced to Pinocchio in a weekly publication called Giornale dei bambini (The Children's Magazine). Pinocchio's adventure appeared as installments of "Storia di un burattino" (The Story of a Puppet). Just two years later, Pinocchio's weekly installments were compiled into a book and renamed "Le Adventure di Pinocchio" (The Adventures of Pinocchio). Pinocchio soon became an enduring children's classic. The author, Carlo Collodi, a name he chose because he spent much of his childhood in the town of Collodi. The musical is based on one of the many Pinocchio stories.
